It has been a while since my last entry on the very lengthy Chinese new year celebration. What I am going to post is something regarding the fifteenth day of the first lunar month which took place about a fortnight ago. Yes, in true Mich fashion, this is an outdated entry again. Next time, I will try to blog sooner and I mean it.
The fifteenth day of the first lunar month is also known as Chap Goh Meh. Some families place high importance on this day but for my family, it's just another day. Personally, I do not anticipate Chap Goh Meh because it is the last day married couples give out red packets to the unmarried kids, teenagers, adults (as long as you are still single, you are eligible to collect red packets).
A neighbour and good friend of my family asked us to join him for the twelve years once Chap Goh Meh parade. This parade is only held in the year of the tiger zodiac (once again I am proud of my tiger year). Lets check out the parade :
After the parade, on the way home, we saw a 'Dondang Sayang' bus parked outside a hotel. We made our way into the hotel and witness for the first time the ladies clad in nyonya kebayas dancing to the rendition of catchy tunes.
That marks the end of the lunar new year celebration.
